Finport Wins the Day but not the War!

The "Sixt Car Rentals" Race 5 of the Australian Championship for 18ft Skiffs on Sydney Harbour saw Yandoo, led by Micah Lane, win the series despite a fourth-place finish in the race. They secured the title with one race remaining, compensating for the absence of their regular skipper John 'Woody' Winning due to injury.

Finport Finance, with Keagan York, Matt Stents, and Harry Hall, dominated the race, leading from the start in a light ENE breeze and finishing 35 seconds ahead of Rag & Famish Hotel. Balmain took third place, with Yandoo in fourth.

Yandoo leads the series with five points, followed by Rag & Famish Hotel with ten, and Finport Finance with eleven. Vaikobi, Andoo, and Balmain are also contenders.

In this race, Finport Finance and Rag & Famish Hotel maintained the lead, successfully navigating the course and utilizing their spinnakers effectively. Yandoo remained competitive throughout.

The President’s Trophy, part of the Australian 18 Footers League’s Season Point Score series, was won by Rag & Famish Hotel. The Season Point Score series is currently led by Fisher & Paykel, followed by Smeg and Yandoo.

This event underlines the competitiveness and skill in 18ft skiff racing, setting up an exciting final race of the series with Finport Finance and The Rag & Famish fighting out for 2nd with 1 point between the two boats currently.
